About the Role:
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person bilingual Spanish-speaking teacher's assistant to provide push-in ELA instruction for 3rd to 5th-grade students at PS 86 Q. As a TA, you will work closely with teachers to support students in developing literacy skills, boosting confidence, and improving academic performance. Your role will be essential in helping multilingual learners overcome language barriers and succeed in their education.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to provide targeted, culturally responsive ELA instruction.
  • Serve as a push-in support, assisting teachers during lessons and working with small groups of students to reinforce key literacy concepts.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to achieve their academic goals.
  • Provide individualized attention to students who need extra support in reading and writing.

Schedule:

  • Days: Monday – Friday
  • Time: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Duration: April 2, 2025 – May 7, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
  • Key Dates Off:
    • April 14–18: Spring Break

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary school ELA.
  • Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of literacy development and instructional strategies for multilingual learners.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in both Spanish and English to effectively support bilingual students.
  • Team Player: A collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills in both languages to effectively connect with diverse learners.
  • Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
  • Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
