About the Role:
We’re hiring three dedicated in-person tutors to provide academic support to middle school students in grades 6–8 at MS 45 Thomas C. Giordano. This includes two ELA tutors and one Math tutor. The specific subject area assignment for each tutor will be confirmed during the interview process. As a tutor, you’ll work directly in classrooms with teachers to deliver targeted academic assistance, empowering students to build their skills, confidence, and academic success.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to provide targeted, culturally responsive instruction in ELA or math.
- Serve as push-in support, assisting teachers during lessons and working hands-on with selected students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to achieve their academic goals.
- Provide individualized attention to students as needed to address specific challenges in ELA or math.
Schedule:
- Days: Monday through Friday
- Time: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Duration: February 24 – April 11, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
- Key Dates Off:
- March 13: Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences (3-hour early dismissal)
- March 31: Eid al-Fitr
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching middle school subjects (grades 6–8).
- Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of middle school ELA and math concepts.
- Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
