About the Role:
We’re hiring three dedicated in-person bilingual Spanish-speaking tutors to provide essential support to middle school students in grades 6–8 at MS 80 The Mosholu Parkway. Each tutor will be assigned to a specific grade: one for 6th grade, one for 7th grade, and one for 8th grade. As a tutor, you’ll work directly in classrooms with teachers to deliver targeted academic assistance, empowering students to build their skills, confidence, and academic success.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to provide targeted, culturally responsive instruction.
  • Serve as a push-in support, assisting teachers during lessons and working with small groups of students to reinforce key concepts.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to achieve their academic goals.
  • Provide individualized attention to students as needed to address specific challenges in their classes.

Schedule:

  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Time: 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM
  • Duration: March 3, 2025 – June 13, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
  • Key Dates Off:
    • March 13: Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences
    • March 31: Eid al-Fitr
    • April 14–18: Spring Recess
    • May 26: Memorial Day
    • June 5: Anniversary Day
    • June 6: Clerical Day

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching middle school subjects.
  • Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of middle school curriculum and concepts, with general proficiency in the four core subject areas (Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies) to effectively support students across different classes throughout the school day.
  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills in both Spanish and English to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
  • Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
